How We Help

Rehab. Performance. Recovery.

Three areas of care, one plan. Most athletes retest about every 12 weeks, against their own baseline.

Rehab

Rehab that follows your surgeon's protocol, with objective tests at each checkpoint. After ACL reconstruction, checkpoints are typically around 3, 6, and 9 months.

Performance

Once you're back: strength and power training to keep building.

Recovery

Hands-on care such as dry needling, cupping, IASTM, manual therapy and mobility work such as assisted stretching at all three clinics, plus Normatec and localized cryotherapy at Lubbock and Colleyville.

Phase 1 of 4

Protect

Calm swelling and get the knee moving.

What we do

Your surgeon's protocol: swelling control, full knee straightening, quad activation and walking mechanics.

To move on

Full knee extension and quad control, as your surgeon's protocol allows.

Phase 2 of 4

Rebuild

Restore strength and control.

What we do

Progressive leg strength and balance work, with a checkpoint test around 3 months.

To move on

Strength and hop scores of about 80% of your other leg, then a running progression when cleared.

Phase 3 of 4

Return to sport

Train for the demands of your sport.

What we do

Running, cutting, jumping and sport drills, with checkpoint tests around 6 and 9 months.

To move on

Quad and hamstring strength and hop tests above 90% of your other leg, and at least 9 months after surgery.

Phase 4 of 4

Stay back

Lower the chance of reinjury.

What we do

Ongoing strength and power training after you return.

To move on

Retests about every 12 weeks after return.

Start with your evaluation

What we measure: Swelling and knee range of motion early on, then quad and hamstring strength and hop tests compared side to side, plus a knee function questionnaire.

The research behind this plan

This example follows Grindem H, et al. Simple decision rules can reduce reinjury risk by 84% after ACL reconstruction: the Delaware-Oslo ACL cohort study. Br J Sports Med. 2016;50(13):804-808.

An example only. Your evaluation sets your actual plan, and you move on when you pass each step, not by the calendar. Force plate and 1080 testing at Lubbock and Colleyville. Irving uses clinical strength and movement tests.

Colleyville and Irving accept insurance and cash pay. Lubbock is cash pay only for now. Each step, where it’s available and how to pay are on one page.
