How It Works

We handle the paperwork

  1. 01

    Send your insurance

Send an appointment request or call your clinic, and have your insurance card and date of birth ready.

  2. 02

    We verify your benefits

We check whether we’re in network with your plan, your copay or coinsurance, your deductible, and whether you need a referral or prior authorization.

  3. 03

    We share what we find

Before your first visit, we let you know what we found so there are no surprises.

  4. 04

    We file the claims

You pay your copay or coinsurance at the visit, and we file the claim with your insurance for you.

Referrals Texas direct access

  • In Texas, a qualified physical therapist can treat you without a referral for up to 30 consecutive calendar days. A referral is needed to continue after that.
  • Your plan may have its own rules. Many HMO plans need a referral from your primary care doctor before they will pay.
  • We check your plan’s referral and authorization rules when we verify your benefits.

Out of network? Cash pay is an option

  • Cash pay is available at all three clinics.
  • If you choose cash pay, you’ll sign a waiver, and those visits can’t be billed to your insurance afterward, by us or by you.
  • Rates vary by service. Call your clinic for current rates.

What to bring To your first visit

  • Your insurance card and a photo ID.
  • A referral, if your plan needs one.
  • A list of your current medications.
  • Any imaging reports or surgery notes for your injury.
  • Comfortable clothes you can move in.

Ask Your Insurer

Want to check on your own too? Call the number on the back of your card and ask:

Hi, I'd like to check my physical therapy benefits.
1. Is iTOP Recovery in network with my plan?
2. What is my deductible, and how much of it has been met this year?
3. What is my copay or coinsurance per visit?
4. Is there a limit on the number of physical therapy visits per year?
5. Do I need a referral or prior authorization for physical therapy?
